Our Music Is Our Joy !
Music, both sound and message, is integral to the spirit and rituals of the Norway UU Church. Minister Richard Beal is a dedicated hymn lover who leads all from the pulpit with great enthusiasm. Music Director Heather Pierson directs the choir and accompanies on piano or organ. The choir’s anthems, introits, and responses reflect each Sunday’s theme, and are intuitively arranged for the small choir by Heather. Sunday’s postludes are often followed by a spontaneous outburst of soul, jazz, or ragtime from the piano, enjoyed by all. Choir rehearsals are Sunday morning at 9:30, and new singers are always welcome.

The Steinway piano and the Aolian Skinner Pipe Organ have both had long associations with the church and the Town. We were elated to have successfully raised the funds to restore the organ, which was rededicated in 2007 after a few years’ silence.

This is our Organ which was recently restored.

An Open Mic Coffee House has been held in the Music Hall on the last Friday night of the month for six years. It’s great for family entertainment and as a fun place in which to perform. Heather has been shepherding this community program since its inception!
